New CHP Trails Kiosk = The Power of Collaboration!

GB Trails Partners work together to improve and maintain trails in Great Barrington. Last week, a small group of us met to complete the CHP Kiosk . Our workers included Mariah Auman & Mike Leavitt (BNRC), Adam Morris (MA DCR), Me (GBLC), Will Conklin (Greenagers), Bill Wellspeak and Walter (CHP).

GB Trails Partners worked to complete a Trails head kiosk for CHPWe were all pretty satisfied with a job well done! I thought the day was another great expression of the power of collaboration, not only to get things done, but to continue to support our community of trail builders through skill development, material sharing, and the joy of working side by side.

Here are a few poignant details:

  • 7 people worked from 12:30 – 5 to complete the project (total 28 hours of work for the cause) Collaborating Partners: CHP, MA DCR, Greenagers and GBLC
  • Timber was donated by MA DCR
  •  Will Conklin led the process with a great deal of skilled support.
  • Some volunteers learned new skills including roofing with cedar shakes.

The work completed will support our next workday to complete the Berkshire South Kiosk. (We hope to work on both kiosks, but it took all hands the complete time to complete the one at CHP) · Next Steps: Post Material on the lovely new kiosk display space. This could include: The trail map, Trail use guidelines, Warnings about ticks / Poison Ivy, upcoming trail events. Adam is working on creating a permanent display piece.
