Winter Wildlife Tracking

Start Date
End Date

Join us at Beartown State Forest for a FREE 3-hour guided exploration in search of signs of wildlife on Saturday, February 8, 9:00am to noon. Meet at the Benedict Pond day-use area, Benedict Pond Road, off Blue Hill Road in Monterey. Participation is limited, pre-registration is required.

Enjoy a mid-winter’s day exploring nearby woodlands, marshes, and streams. See what local wildlife has been up to! Journey off-trail, less than 2-miles, at a leisurely pace with some rough terrain and likely stream crossings. Join contributing naturalists and co-sponsoring organizations Jim Pelletier of Mass Appalachian Trail Management Committee, Mariah Auman of Berkshire Natural Resources Council, Christine Ward of Great Barrington Land Conservancy, and Alec Gillman of DCR State Parks.

If there’s enough snow bring your own snowshoes or traction devices and hiking poles. Don't have your own? You can rent snowshoes from the Arcadian Shop. Dress accordingly for the cold weather. Bring water and a snack. Pre-registration is required. To register email Mariah at mauman@bnrc.org or call 413-499-0596 by February 6th.
